A place for fathers to vent: Could anything rival Facebook?

Do you think there's a market for venting fathers who feel the need to express themselves concerning child custody-related matters?

Indeed, there is, as evidenced by an online social media page entitled "Fathers that care."

And the platform chosen for the expression of fathers' rights'-centered views could hardly be more ubiquitous and guaranteed to generate interest. When it comes to massive popularity and being a seemingly omnipresent fixture, what could possibly rival Facebook?

The Fathers that care page was started by an Arkansas dad embroiled in a slew of child-related concerns, including paternity, visitation and custody.

Creator Nathan Butler, who has two kids, says that Arkansas family laws can make things especially difficult for fathers. Butler came to the idea for his online page as a forum that might connect fathers with family law concerns who needed an information source and sounding board to express their feelings.

And connect it has. Although the page has not exploded as an Internet phenomenon, it has tallied more than 2,000 visits within the past month.

And fathers from different countries are beaming in with their views.

To his credit, Butler is insisting on an element of civility and fair play for those seeking to pass along their thoughts and frustrations. A central rule of the site -- termed "the only rule of the page" by a media article discussing Fathers that care -- is that mothers cannot be denigrated.

Just because things sour in a marriage or unmarried relationship that bred children, says Butler, "doesn't mean you don't want a relationship with the child."
