Growing up in Greers Ferry, Arkansas, I remember envying my friends, whose parents actually spoke to each other, whose fathers were home with them every night, and whose mothers seemed happy. I also remember feeling fortunate that, even though my parents, who separated several times during my childhood and then, eventually, divorced when I was eighteen years old, never made me choose between them. They attended our family holidays together, they attended and sat next to each other at my basketball games and awards ceremonies, and they rarely displayed their conflicts to me and my siblings.

In 1998, I remember the pain, the uncertainty, the feeling of being absolutely vulnerable when my husband was in the middle of a custody lawsuit with his ex-wife over their daughter. Eventually, everyone in my stepdaughter's life had to learn to get along. I know, first hand, both the struggles and the blessings of being part of a blended family. I use that knowledge to be proactive in my clients' cases, ensuring that their legal rights are protected.

Now I have two children of my own, and I know the feeling of absolute devotion, willing to give anything for my childrens' health and safety, and the magnitude of my job to give them what they need to become happy, productive adults.

These are the experiences I carry with me, everyday, when I step into my law office. Having had the experience of being a client in these situations, I know what it feels like to wait for a return telephone call, to feel so nervous about the process, and to hope that my lawyer understands that she has a part of my life in her hands.

There are many things about the law that are unpredictable and even unfair. However, I know that I have control over my dedication, my case preparation, and my competency in handling my clients' most personal legal issues.
